Conference Objectives / Steering Committee

Conference Objectives:

  • To connect researchers, decision-makers, health and social service professionals, survivors and community people to explore promising strategies and best practice in suicide prevention
  • To recognize that mental health promotion is the foundation of suicide prevention
  • To identify strategies that provide broad-based support for high risk populations
    • Aboriginal peoples, youth and seniors
    • People experiencing mental illness and addictions
    • People experiencing violence, abuse and trauma
    • People experiencing sexual discrimination
  • To have a greater understanding of the factors that cause TURMOIL and that may potentially precipitate the TRAGEDY of suicide
  • To identify what builds resilience and HOPE
  • To renew the call to ACTION and launch the CASP Blueprint for a Canadian National Suicide Prevention Strategy-Second Edition
