Survivor Needs
A sincere invitation and heartfelt welcome is extended to all survivors attending the 2009 CASP Conference! Together, we will connect with researchers, varied professionals, community members, and other survivors. Our stories will inspire the commitment to suicide prevention; our support for the cause and for each other will bring hope during this meaningful event. Both organized and informal opportunities will be many to join with others sharing the common thread of suicide death of loved ones.
"Building Survivors Hope" Room
The “Building Survivor’s Hope” Room will be available throughout the conference for those who need a quiet place to sit and reflect in a peaceful atmosphere of healing and comfort.
"Circle of Light"
Please join us for this Circle of Remembrance on Registration Night (Tuesday, October 20). We will share poetry, music, and light a candle to remember loved ones who have died by suicide. This will be a chance for survivors to connect, offer support to each other and realize we are not alone in our struggle. There will be a Sharing Circle to follow, everyone is welcome.
"A Walk in These Shoes"
Join us Oct 22 for a march to Brandon City Hall. There, we will send a message on the importance of suicide prevention in our communities. Please bring a pair of gently used shoes, perhaps a pair that represents a life that has been lost to suicide. Following our Walk, the shoes will be given to individuals in need in our community.
Workshops:
Moving speakers and varied workshops and concurrent sessions are planned for the conference, several with specific appeal to survivors.
Thank you, fellow survivors, for joining us in Brandon!
